Slip and Slide ~ 7-20-11

Uncle Michael and Aunt Kaci got Cameron and Braydon a slip and slide for Braydon's birthday a few weeks ago. We finally had an opportunity to get it out and man did Cameron have fun!

At first he wasn't quite sure what to do.

So he decided to walk down it.

Having fun all the way.

Taking a break to have a drink.

Then we added a little soap to it and he got a running start.

And took a dive!

He had tons of fun...
While Braydon just looked at me like, "Mom, when is it my turn?!?"

Thanks Uncle Michael and Aunt Kaci!

Cooking from the Garden ~ 7-20-11

We are getting lots of okra from the garden. I've been cutting it up, coating it and putting it in the freezer. Today I decided to cook some to see how it is.

I took the fryer outside so the house didn't smell like grease.

Doesn't it just look appetizing with the lawn in the background?!?

I'm happy to report it was yummy and great lesson for Cameron to
see it coming from our garden to our table!

Lunch with Friends ~ 7-20-11

The boys and I went to Mrs. C's house for swimming and lunch. We had a great time in the pool and then went back for lunch and a little play time.

Cameron enjoyed the swing.

And Braydon was soooo tired he almost fell asleep.

End of Summer at the Library ~ 7-19-11

The library has a pretty good summer reading program and we've been going for 2 summers now. At the beginning of the summer the kiddos sign-up and get a goodie bag. Then we keep track at home and the kiddos get a certificate at the end of the summer as well as their name tag off the library wall.

At the end of the summer the library invites Domino's to make pizza with the kiddos as well as eat lunch. The kids had a great time. Would have been even better if Cameron would have been able to toss the pizza in the air, but standing under it this year will have to do.

Seeing how many people the ladies could get under the pizza crust.
Cameron, Miss E, and Miss B are fitting under!

Wow, here come more kiddos!

Wow, how many are under there?
Miss B decides she is out of there!

Cameron getting dough to make his own pizza crust.

Braydon waiting patiently for his pizza dough to make some crust and hopefully not try to eat it.

Braydon kept touching the dough and then pulling his hands back.

Then Braydon decided he would dive in to play with it.

We can't wait for more fun next year.

You Just Never Know ~ 7-18-11

You find things like this in our house on occasion...Ball pit ball in Cameron's milk cup.

Can't remember how it got there, but no surprise that it wasn't supposed to be in there!

Girls Weekend Away ~ 7-16-11

Michael and his brothers met up in Hotlanta otherwise known as Atlanta, GA in May to enjoy a weekend with one another. So that prompted discussion of some friends and I to go on a trip of our own. We decided that Galveston would be our destination. We were close to home "just in case" yet far enough away the hubby's couldn't just call us to come home.

As we got closer to Galveston it started pouring rain, not a very good start to the trip. So in an effort to wait out the rain, our first stop was at

We just couldn't resist looking at the Christmas sale that they do in the summer. But, we didn't end up with much. After, we headed off for some coffee across from the pier and enjoyed catching up while we waited on the weather to clear up. Then as we went to the seawall for lunch we drove by this and had to stop.

The sculpture is the remnants of a tree that either fell over or died as the result of Hurricane Ike on September 13, 2008.

Then we were off to have lunch. We had a beautiful view of the Gulf of Mexico and of course we had to have seafood.

Afterwards we went to our hotel and got settled in before heading out to the strand. I was able to do a beautiful job of parallel parking down on the strand! Nice to still have the touch, not a skill one uses very often.

Then we stopped at Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory. They have delectable apples with all kinds of wonderful coatings. They are out of this world delicious!!!!

Then we had to make a stop by La King's Confectionery. They are famous for the taffy. The man you see in the picture has been working for La King's for over 30 years tossing out taffy as he makes it. Mmmm yummy.

Then we headed over to fisherman's Wharf for a delicious dinner overlooking the bay.

We had a relaxing evening walking along the beach and shopping in an interesting gift shop. Afterwards we retired for the evening to ready for another day of friends and fun.

Pelican and birds
The next morning we took a 3 hour tour around the town. We were able to see many more of the statues made from trees. Some of them were really cool.

Old Coca Cola sign recently refinished unlike the sign next to it.

Friends...and no we didn't plan the height arrangement!

We are definitely going to have to plan a trip for next summer!
We are we going girls?!?!?

Teeth Brushing Time ~ 7-14-11

Two crazy boys getting their teeth brushed before bed time.

Pump it Up + Children's Museum ~ 7-15-11

In the spring a friend of mine and I purchased a 3 pass trip to Pump-It-Up. It is a place that has gigantic inflatables where the kids climb, jump, and slide. We had the trip on our  summer calendar of events and finally had a chance for several of us to make it. So, several friends met up with the kiddos and we let them run wild...not really.

Cameron in the basketball arena inflatable.

Miss, S, Cameron, Miss E, and Miss B playing in the basketball arena.

Braydon didn't really have much to do with the inflatables but loved the floor and his cheerios.

After we left Pump-It-Up we dropped by the Children's Museum again since we were not far from it.

Cameron made an ice cream sundae, yummy!

Braydon wanting his own tattoo or perhaps not wanting Cameron to get one.

Cameron trying to catch our dinner.
