Happy 60th Birthday Gary! ~ 12-27-11

We managed to pull off a Surprise 60th Birthday Party for Gary. His birthday is Christmas Day so a few days later was the actual party. Some friends from the "old days," family from out of state, and family in town were all able to make it in. I almost blew the surprise the day before Christmas but Janet saved the day by making up something really quick.

Once we woke up the boys and I were off and running. We had to pack everything at our house up that we might need and head to Michael's dealership to air up the balloons. Of course, as soon as we got there Michael and Scott had a customer show up so we had to wait around to get the balloons aired up. After getting them aired up we were off and running to the folks house. This is the view from my seat. The poor boys had balloons everywhere in the backseat and back of the car, but do they look they mind?

60th birthday decorations.

Our premise to get Gary our of the house so we could decorate was Matthew taking him to a movie. While they were gone, I ran last minute errands, including picking up the cake, and almost didn't make it back for the surprise.
Cameron roaming around before the festivities

Spread of Wonderful food.
We greeted Gary at the door and I don't think he could have been the wiser. The boys had balloons in tow for added emphasis of the birthday message.
Fortunately, I made it back in time and it was a wonderful surprise which I think we actually pulled off without him knowing a thing! Yippee!
Gary's 1st grade report card. I wish I would have got a picture of the comments his teacher wrote because they were really funny.
I found a cool idea on Pinterest. If you haven't been there and decide to check it out make sure you have plenty of time on your hands.

I cut out big 6 and 0 numbers out of poster board. Then I rummaged through family pictures for hours finding just the right pictures to include. I then hot glued them onto the poster board. These pics were taken with my phone and aren't great and then I didn't get a good pictures of them at the party. Oh, well maybe next time.

Janet, Autn Karen, and Uncle David checking out the pictures.

The RIP cake for the birthday boy

Get ready to blow out the candles.

Fortunately Gary had Cameron's help!
Enjoying cake

Look at that face!

Cameron helped Papa open his presents and with this group you had to know there was gonna be some interesting gifts! (If you can't make the card out it is of a guy with a thong on while at the beach.)
Braydon going back for Olive Garden bread sticks AFTER his cake. Not sure where that kid puts all of his food.

Can we say "drink much?"

The Payne siblings, Gary, older brother Richard, younger sister Karen, and baby brother David. We are so glad everyone was able to join us from out of town and out of state. You all made the day so special.
